Senior Care packages: I was very excited to see the team deliver care packages to seniors in our district. Even though we have postponed our annual senior luncheon we wanted to make sure we had something special for our seniors. Special thanks to PepsiCo and New Covenant for sponsors of this giveaway. I also want to thank the Girls Evolving into Mature Sisters (G.E.M.S.) mentoring program for helping to pack all the bags. Rose Lewis-Calvin our friend spends countless hours with her team mentoring and preparing these young girls for life. Love what she does and am happy to partner in community services with her. It was a delight to provide these special packages to the seniors in The 2nd County District.

Cook County Health Holiday Toy Drive: The holiday season is always a special time of year and I enjoy giving back. I had the special opportunity to give toys at John H. Stroger Hospital to the children who come through the Emergency Room, the Pediatrics department, and in Intensive Care. I was happy to provide over 300 toys to the children who have to be in the hospital during the holidays. Thank you to President Toni Preckwinkle and CEO Israel Rocha for being a part of this special event and helping to get toys to children coming through the hospital. I also want to give a special thanks to Chicago Family Partnership, Flags of the Heart, Complete Care Health, 100 Black Men Inc., New Covenant CDC Arabic Temple, Kidz Korner’s, and all of those who participated in our toy drive so that we could have toys for this special occasion. Thanks to the Harlem Globetrotters for joining us as well they helped provide tickets to the children who would want to see them perform. This is all about the children and I was happy to be a part of it.

Senior Holiday Luncheon: The Team had an awesome time serving our seniors this afternoon a wonderful holiday lunch. Thank you State Rep Lakesia Collins, and Alderman Michael Scott Jr. for our collaboration to make this event special. I want to highlight the restaurant owner Cecelia, who has her restaurant Flava that of course is a black and woman-owned business who catered the meal Here restaurant is located right in the heart of North Lawndale at 3952 W. 16th St. in Chicago. We also had Derek T Brown Director of Boxing out Negativity and his trainees who were with us serving the seniors. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention our sponsor PepsiCo for seeing the need in the community and being a partner. This is the season of giving back and me and my team are always excited to do so.

2021 Holiday Turkey Giveaway: This event was simply awesome. In all, we gave away 250 Turkeys to those in underserved communities on the west and south sides. I call that doing good in the hood. I am grateful to all of our sponsors and volunteers who are prominently listed on the flyer. And Include my office, Medstar, New Covenant CDC, Multiethnic Committee, Alderman Michael Scott Jr. Rep Lakeisha Lakesia Collins, North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council, WACA, and all of the Brother of Omega Psi Fraternity Inc. There were so many thankful recipients today all across the 2nd District. I’m also thankful that President Toni Preckwinkle stopped by to pass out Turkeys as well as the CEO of Cook County Health Israel Rocha. It was an awesome day. I’m tired but so blessed. Shout out to my team for doing a fantastic job in planning and making sure this event was a success.

Sankofa House Toy Giveaway: The Team had an awesome time giving toys at Sankofa House. This residency houses grandmothers raising their grandchildren and it was a pleasure to partner with State Rep Lakesia Collins and Alderman Michael Scott Jr. to bring holiday cheer to the children at Sankofa. Thank you to Metropolitan Family Services, Kidz Korner’s and the men of Omega Psi Phi for providing toys. Special thanks to Sharon Preston and her organization Flags of the heart who provided toys, coats, gym shoes, and gift cards. I also want to thank Ms. Annetta Wilson for her dedication to the families at Sankofa. This season is about giving back and we made sure every child got a toy and a gift bag. This holiday season has been a joy and I feel blessed to be a blessing.
